Our group provides over 20,000 anesthetics per year to patients undergoing surgery at Holmes Regional Medical Center and the Melbourne Same Day Surgery Center.
Holmes Regional Medical Center (HRMC) currently operates sixteen operating rooms, as well as a labor and delivery unit. We also provide anesthesia services at certain special procedure locations such as the lithotripsy truck, the cardiac catheterization lab and the MRI lab. HRMC is a Level 2 Trauma Center, where virtually all services are provided with the exception of transplants. We provide round-the-clock, 365 day per year in-house coverage at HRMC. One or more members of our team are always in the hospital, ready to provide anesthesia services as needed. In addition to providing services in the operating rooms, we are the airway and pain management specialists on call throughout the hospital.
Melbourne Same Day Surgery Center (MSDSC) is an independently owned outpatient surgery facility. They currently have six operating rooms. They also have a mobile lithotripsy at the facility weekly.
As members of the medical staff at the facilities where we practice, we are bound to follow the privacy practices of each facility with regard to your medical information. In addition to our twenty-four physicians, we employ thirteen full-time and three part-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs). CRNAs are licensed as advanced registered nurse practitioners (ARNPs) in the state of Florida. They are nurses with masters' degrees who have completed two years of technical training in anesthesia. CRNAs in our facilities work only under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist. This means that the patient will have been interviewed pre-operatively by a physician, who will determine the course of treatment, and that an anesthesiologist will be immediately available and involved in most aspects of patient care. Because we practice as a group, the anesthesiologist who interviews you may or may not be the only one to provide your anesthetic. Other anesthesiologists, and maybe one or more CRNAs, may also be involved in your care. In some instances, very sick patients may require multiple providers to be simultaneously and continuously involved in their care. Practicing in this care team format allows us the flexibility to provide optimal care for each patient.
We also operate the Center for Pain Management, located in the Hibiscus Office Park at 1696B West Hibiscus Blvd. in Melbourne. We have one full-time physician working in the clinic, along with an ARNP, several nurses and medical assistants. We see patients with all kinds of chronic pain, treating them with a variety of therapies from medications to pain blocks, acupuncture, psychological services and physical therapy. To learn more about the pain clinic, and find out whether or not you are a candidate, please refer to the page entitled "How We Can Help Manage Your Chronic Pain."
